2012 LuchaWorld 100 Countdown: #90 thru #81

90. Hijo de Rey Misterio II (NR) – Exciting high-flyer, who split his time working in California and in Mexico. There was some confusion in 2012 when the previous Hijo de Rey Misterio made his return and there were 2 wrestlers using the name, but when the bell rings, you’ll notice the difference. The second version, formerly known as Horus, is a little more athletic and a more polished worker. Less tattoos too. Wrestled for El Hijo del Santo’s Todo X El Todo promotion on March 31st. Had a feud with Bestia 666 on the indies.

89. Dark Dragon/Pentagon Jr. (NR) – Wrestled most of 2012 as Dark Dragon. He’s the brother of Fenix and they’ve been stuck to the hip since they started wrestling, which is a good thing as they tend to have good matches. Part of La Sociedad’s subgroup La Milicia which was led by Octagon in early 2012. At the 12/2 Guerra de Titanes show, he was re-gimmicked Pentagon Jr. to feud with Octagon and Octagon Jr. (Samuray del Sol). Unfortunately Samuray del Sol didn’t stick around after that match, but Pentagon Jr. stayed in a similar role feuding with Octagon and the rest of AAA.

88. Comando Negro (47) – One of the better independent wrestlers in Mexico. Wrestles primarily for IWRG in Arena Naucalpan. Didn’t have the level of year that he had the previous 2 years, but he still was involved in some fun early card matches. He was usually involved in the Torneo FILL/Copa High Power torneo ciberneticos and in mask cage matches for IWRG. Feuded with Guerrero Mixtico in Arena Neza and on December 25th won a mask match against Guerrero Mixtico.

87. Shigeo Okumura (NR) – 2012 was a surprisingly good year for Okumura. Usually known more for being a Japanese wrestler who was fluent in Spanish, so he’d end up being the third member of a Japanese trio that usually featured New Japan talent. Held the Occidente Light Heavyweight Title and had a successful title defense against Valiente and eventually lost the title to Sagrado on July 10th in Guadalajara. Okumura teamed with Namajague, who was the latest wrestler sent to Mexico by New Japan for some added experience. The duo feuded with Stuka Jr. & Fuego and had an excellent tag match when they challenged for the Arena Coliseo Tag Team Titles on September 9th.

86. Hector Garza (26) – Spent most of 2012 as part of Los Perros Del Mal. Won the Mexican National Heavyweight title on February 14th, 2012 in 6-way elimination match in Arena Aficion. Reached the finals of Rey De Reyes were he helped Hijo del Perro Aguayo win the 4-way match. At the 8/5 Triplemania show, Hector Garza accidentally hit Hijo del Perro Aguayo with a chair which cost Aguayo the match for the AAA title against El Mesias. The Perros del Mal were all upset at Garza over the mistake, so Garza told them he quit. At the next show, Los Perros Del Mal turned on Hector Garza before a tag match. Hector Garza returned to the tecnico side after, but wrestled sporadically during September. He made his final wrestling appearance at the October 7th Heroes Inmortales show in the Copa Antonio Pena elimination match. On October 15th, a press released was sent out revealing that Hector Garza was diagnosed with lung cancer. He spoke via telephone on Tercera Caida thanking everyone from fans, wrestlers, promoters for their support and announced he would retire to battle cancer. Sadly Hector Garza lost his battle to cancer on May 26, 2013 and will be missed.

85. Angel De Oro (43) – Started 2012 strongly challenging for the CMLL Middleweight Title against Dragon Rojo Jr. in a match he lost, but followed that with a win in the February 3rd Reyes del Aire Torneo Cibernetico. Challenged Negro Casas for the NWA Historic Welterweight title on April 29th. Soon after that he traveled to Japan to take part in New Japan’s annual Best of the Super Junior tournament. He started off with four wins, lucha fans rejoiced, reality followed and he lost the rest of the matches in the tournament. Despite improving his positioning on CMLL cards didn’t really stand out in 2012 beyond having really good matches against Negro Casas. Challenged Negro Casas again for the NWA Historic Welterweight Title on September 2nd, but was once again unsuccessful. He suffered an injury in mid-September and missed a few weeks. CMLL focused on others upon his return, but he continued to be kept high on the card. He lost a third time to Negro Casas in a title match in late December.

84., 83., & 82. Los Psycho Circus (Murder Clown, Monster Clown, Psycho Clown) (77, 76 & 75) – Solid year for Los Psycho Circus in AAA and on the Mexican independent scene. They’ve become a main event trio on the indie scene and for AAA-affiliated shows throughout Mexico. Grouped together because they were the one trio that actually wrestled together the majority of the time in 2012. Continued their feud with Los Perros del Mal early in 2012. They beat Los Perros del Mal for the AAA World Trios Titles on March 11th in Ecatepec. In AAA, Los Psycho Circus followed that up with a feud with El Consejo. On the independent scene they feuded with a variety of trios including the Junior Dinamitas, the Piratas, La Familia de Tijuana (Damian 666, X-Fly, Bestia 666) and Los Payasos. Lost the AAA World Trios Titles to El Consejo (Texano Jr., Máscara Año 2000 Jr. & Toscano) on May 19th. One week later, they won the IWL Trios titles beating Los Porros in Tlalnepantla. They continued much of 2012 feuding with El Consejo. Psycho Clown did have one major singles match when he challenged Cien Caras Jr. for the IWRG IC Heavyweight Title. He lost, but that most likely planted the seed in AAA to give Psycho Clown a singles feud in 2013. Los Psycho Circus handed the new trio of Los Inferno Rockers their first loss on December 2nd at AAA’s Guerra de Titanes show.

81. Eita (NR) – Young Dragon Gate wrestler who was sent to Mexico to continue his training with IWRG. His use of hard chops in his matches, earned him the nickname “King of Chop”. No nickname was given for him landing on his had during matches. Wrestled primarily for IWRG, but also made appearances in other independent groups in Mexico, primarily DTU. Debuted in IWRG in the Rey Del Ring match on May 31st. Usually worked early card matches, but those tend to be the matches fans praise since they tend to be fast-paced and fun to watch. Won the DTU Alto Impacto Title on DTU’s September 23rd show. Lost to Dr. Cerebro in the semi-finals of a tournament to crown a new WWS Welterweight Champion on November 11th in Arena Naucalpan. At DTU’s December 11th show, Eita was in a multi-person match challenging for Daga’s AAA Cruiserweight Title. He’s become a favorite in Mexico’s lucha indie scene.
