Debut Show (Episode #1) – The debut of the LuchaWorld Podcast! We discuss Sin Cara, Sting heading to AAA which leads to some talk of Ric Flair (not the financial stuff!), Matt Hardy’s fake youtube suicide note, CMLL the numerous feuds matched by number of TV shows you have to search through to watch these matches, dancing with Zacarias El Perico, AAA’s TV situation (or lack of in the US), the passing of SoCal luchador Mando Lopez (a.k.a. Superstar), thoughts on some of the Mexico Candidates on the Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame ballot, plus, even more discussion on dancing with Villano III and Jushin “Thunder” Liger and faking Cancer vs. faking Suicide, which is worse! Episode #7 – The latest edition of the LuchaWorld Podcast hits the road to interview one of the legends of Los Angeles lucha libre and Michinoku Pro star, Superboy! In this episode, Superboy talks about his father, El Moro’s start running lucha shows in the legendary Hadco Plaza in Los Angeles. Talks about his brother’s Principe Indu, Capitan Oro and he getting into wrestling. More on the Hadco Plaza lucha libre shows. The concept of relevos Chinos matches, which Kurt refers to as Samurai matches that would happen at Hadco Plaza. His dad’s (El Moro) promoting style from taking care of talent, getting sponsors and watching every match from top to bottom. Training lucha libre at 8 years old. Starting out as El Espartano and how the name Superboy came about. Working for the WIN promotions and receiving his first paycheck. Lizmark Sr’s advice to Superboy. How he got hooked up with Michinoku Pro. Watching Japanese wrestling on tapes. Some stories of his trips to Japan. His first match for Michinoku Pro teaming with Super Delfin going against The Great Sasuke & Piloto Suicida. Watching the Michinoku Pro wrestlers in action. We discuss New Mistico’s debut and the early returns and feedback about him. CMLL’s TV programming and match-making and how difficult it is to figure out. La Sombra and were he’s at. Kurt tries to get Fredo to reveal insider secrets. We look back at Triplemania XX. Sexy Star’s new look. Perros Del Mal dumping Hector Garza. El Consejo’s night. Kurt Angle’s involvement. We wonder why Electroshock works so many big matches for AAA. The various stip matches on the show. We also talk about CMLL on terra.com, the Marcela vs. Tiffany hair match. The number of good female wrestlers in Mexico compared to the past. The awesome Konnan’s show. Upcoming Lucha Libre Reunion in LA on August 26th and our request for luchador White Pork’s photo! Fredo tells Kurt about the new women’s promotion in the US, with a hilarious acronym! Vandal Drummond and Crayz doing a spit spot on a recent MPW show. We remember Red Bastien, who passed away on Saturday and his involvement with the WIN lucha libre promotion and what a good guy he was. We also talk about the incident in Iowa involving Tony Kozina, Davey Richards, Kyle O’Reilley, and Ryan Kidd, which led to a story about a shoot match in Long Beach, Ca in 1991 between El Piranha and B.J. We talk about whether we’ll watch Wrestlemania when we can watch that Arena Coliseo show for free and the CM Punk vs. The Undertaker feud. Our dislike for Seth Rogan. Mascarita Dorada joining WWE. Lots of talk about the latest in AAA from L.A. Park leaving the promotion, the Gran Sorpresa show with all its surprises from Blue Demon Jr., Axel & Ricky Marvin, and the big AAA roster split into two brands (Fusion & Evolucion). Hector Garza’s current battle with cancer and some thoughts from Vandal’s own experiences dealing with the disease and meeting others who went thru the battle. Thoughts on CMLL and their tournaments, recent matches and shows and random tidbits. Also talk about the possible end of Lucha Libre USA and where they went wrong.
