Millennium Pro Wrestling 5/29/10 Recap

Written By Alfredo Esparza

After being gone for several years, Millennium Pro Wrestling made its return on May 29th in Chatsworth, CA at the Fit Pit Pro Wrestling school! Pretty packed house. I guess that Rowdy Roddy Piper fella must be famous. That’s right! ROWDY RODDY PIPER was making a special appearance on this show. Really awesome to see Piper.

We (Kurt, Fisico Nuclear, Mary Lou Farren, and I) showed up about 2 hours before the show started. Kurt disappeared into the bowels of the gym for a production meeting. I believe they were filming a documentary on Logan X’s wrestling return. Then Fisico disappeared. We saw brief glimpses of Dan Farren walking around the building. So basically, after getting ditched by the wrasslers, Mary Lou and I were left to fend for ourselves. Fortunately, Sofia arrived in time and now we continued to wait, but we were able to get some seats….

The good news and really were MPW wins points with me is that they had Little Caesar’s pizza and we went ahead and bought a few slices. A couple of friends showed up as well. Ryan Doyle, Shari and Mark. Fisico made his way back at some point. We waited a little longer while the crowd arrived.

During the first half they did an angle that would lead to the match between Fan Boy and B.S. Cohen’s surprise opponent. Phenomenal Phil was part of the angle and mentioned he was going to Lithuania to judge a talent contest later that night. I guess there isn’t much talent in Lithuania because Phil was back later in the show.

I’ll go ahead and just run through the show and hopefully I can remember everything that happened. I’m using SoCalUncensored’s results to refresh my memory along with some additional info provided by others.

Oh, I do remember there were about 7 referees at this show! They should start a gang. I’ve been to shows were there might not even be one referee and here there were 7 and I thought to myself, “somewhere in Southern California there is a wrestling show with no referee, but with TWO ring bells.” :) MPW didn’t have a bell. I didn’t really notice it, but someone brought it up and I thought I’d mention it.

Rebecca won an inter gender Battle Royal

Rebecca was this really muscular woman. I can’t quite remember who was in this. There was a skinny guy wearing underwear, a butcher, Kevin, some emo-looking guy, and a few others. Rebecca just beat the life out of these guys and won easily.

I believe it was right after this match when Rowdy Roddy Piper came out and greeted the fans. Loud ovation for the Hot Rod. He let the fans ask some questions. He greeted Scott Walton (Jeff Walton’s son) and they shared a few good memories from the days of the L.A. Olympic Auditorium.

While Piper was reminiscing about the good ol’ days, out came Cincinnati Red and his entourage to confront Piper. Piper then called out Logan X and there was a bit of a confrontation between Red and Logan. For those not familiar, these two have a long history as Red trained Logan X years ago. Logan X would later start MPW and later on he decided to achieve his other dream of becoming a police officer. This match would not only be teacher vs. student, but Cincinnati Red put his hair on the line against Logan X’s badge. Keep reading as I did have a few WHAT IFS when it came to this stipulation.

I want to mention that they actually did some really good skits building up the Cincinnati Red vs. Logan X match, but they vanished from the internet.

Under Pressure d. Hobo

Hobo had been ringside throughout the early portion of the show. Under Pressure made his way into the ring and insulted the fans. He then challenged anyone to a match and of course the Hobo was the one that the fans wanted to see challenge Under Pressure. Hobo didn’t seem too thrilled with the idea. Under Pressure decided to sweeten the pot and offered him some money and a place to stay in Las Vegas. Hobo jumped at the chance. Pretty competitive match. Its good to see a hobo who uses his money on wrestling training AND NOT on alcoholic beverages.

Anchor’s Away d. Kyle Webb & Almighty Ray

I really enjoyed Anchor’s Away. At one point, a girl in the crowd yelled something to the ref about Anchor’s Away cheating in the match and one of the guy’s yelled out, “Callate Chismosa” and it got a good reaction from the crowd. Kyle Webb looked like a cross between Charles Manson and Edge. Almighty Ray took most of the punishment in the match as the storyline was that Kyle Webb and his manager didn’t particularly care for Ray and would have preferred a better tag team partner. Anchor’s Away did some really cool double-team moves. Ray lost the match and then Webb attacked him with his manager looking down at Ray.

Ryan Taylor d. Joey Ryan

Winner of this match would get a shot at the NWA World Heavyweight Champion “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce at the next MPW show July 31st (I believe). I think Ryan Taylor’s been hitting the weight room this year. First time I saw him wrestle (last year or whenever those NWA TV tapings occurred), I thought he’d make a good heel because he had a smug look to him and wasn’t very big, but now I think he has to be a babyface, which was exactly what he worked as on this show. Oddly enough, first time I saw Joey Ryan wrestle was on an MPW show. Good match. Fans were into it. The women loved Ryan Taylor.

Crayz & Brawlin’ Bo Cooper w/ Head Nurse Florence Nightcall d. Ballard Brothers w/ Krystal

Both teams were accompanied by valets. Crayz and BBC’s had a nurse (named Head Nurse Florence Nightcall) in their corner and the Ballards were accompanied by Krystal (or if Dan hadn’t sent me her name, also known as “girl with really nice legs”). Pretty good brawl. Match stopped a few minutes in when the women got involved and did a pull-apart. The Ballards and their valet were leaving when Bo asked to make the match no DQ Bo, Crayz and their nurse were leaving and the Ballards challenged them to a NO DQ match.  (Thanks Krystal!) They re-started the match. Pretty good brawl with chairs used and guys getting thrown around outside the ring. A couple of broken tables in the match as well. The women got involved again as well. Good brawl. Good times.

They had a brief intermission. We went and got pictures taken with Rowdy Roddy Piper.

Bump n’ Grind (Morgan & Nikki The New York Knockout) d. Thunderkitty & Amanda

Bump n’ Grind were not pleased with the musical choice for their entrance which sounded like “Baby Got Back”. I think I missed some of this match because I can’t remember much from it beyond the entrance and that Bump n’ Grind took most of the offense in the match the few times I caught a bit. Rebecca, the female bodybuilder woman (who apparently was trained by Harley Race), attacked Amanda and Thunderkitty. She carried one of them over her shoulder to the back.

G.Q. Money won three-way over Scorpio Sky and Disco Machine

This was a pretty fun match. I really liked G.Q. Money in this match. Very entertaining wrestler. Match was for a championship belt, but I can’t remember if it was the MPW title or something else. Either way G.Q. Money was awesome. He does a great job interacting with the fans and getting them into the match. He kept getting upset early in the match as Scorpio Sky and Disco Machine would lock up against each other and G.Q. was the odd-man out. G.Q.’s request to be part of the match drew a few chops and double-team moves from Scorpio Sky and Disco Machine. I could have sworn G.Q. had a move he referred to as a Koala hug that he applied on Disco Machine at one point in the match. G.Q. would have made a great ’80s heel.

Fan Boy d. Ecto X Slut (Kurt Brown, first match back since beating cancer)

This match was set-up earlier on the show and I was kind of surprised Kurt would be working a singles match. I assumed he would be in the battle royal. There was some talk about whether Kurt could go long in a singles match since he hadn’t wrestled in years. Of course I assumed this would be a short match….It ended up going a little longer than I expected. There were a lot of people outside the ring during this match. B.S. Cohen, some Star Wars fans, the SoCal Ghostbusters, and later Darth Vader all got involved in this match. Darth Vader brutally attacked Ecto X Slut with a chair. Phenomenal Phil returned from Lithuania in time to attack B.S. Cohen.

Kurt survived this match and was later chokeslammed by Rebecca in the locker room!

Lethal Logan X d. Cincinnati Red in a hair vs. badge match.

The main event had tons of heat as the fans were really behind Logan X. Red carried a barbed-wire baseball bat to the ring and came in with his entourage. Mostly a wild brawl with Logan bleeding. Red’s gang attacked Logan until Rowdy Roddy Piper made the save and evened the odds. Piper helped Logan beat Red, which got a huge pop from the crowd. I on the other hand was very disappointed because I really was hoping Red would win this match. I don’t know what exactly the stipulation was when it came to Logan putting his badge on the line (What if Red won? Would he be allowed to join the police force? Would Logan retire from the police force?), but I had really hoped to see Cincinnati Red protect the streets and fight crime. I might have to get kcidis to illustrate Cincinnati Red driving around in a cop car, while his hair flows out of the window, sirens blazing, protecting the streets! Red could have been a real-life Vic Mackey with red hair! Instead he lost and had to get his head shaved.

Logan X refused to cut Red’s hair because he felt he owed him too much and couldn’t do it. Red then grabbed the mic and told him to do it because he (Logan) won. Logan X then decided that he still couldn’t, but he knew someone else could and turned it over to Roddy Piper. Red got his long hair cut off by Piper. Logan gave Piper an award he had been given awhile ago and also brought him a cake. Who doesn’t love cake?

Piper stuck around for the entire show and after the show took pictures with a bunch of folks.

Fun night overall. Good to see everyone there. Next show is July 31st featuring the MPW return of the NWA World Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce. He’ll be wrestling against Ryan Taylor. For more info visit Millennium Pro Wrestling’s Official Web Site.

Had to do some editing and corrections on certain wrestlers names as some were listed incorrectly and others I couldn’t catch.

Uh oh, just wanted to point out that Bo Cooper/Crayz ran out on the match and the Ballards challenged them to a no DQ match.

No problem! I thought you were awesome. I had no idea you were also doing the announcing for the Viva La Lucha PPV. Didn’t figure it out until I was checking out the site and noticed you and Larry Rivera on the clip.

  6. Alfredo says:

MPW filmed the show. I believe they’ll be releasing it at some point.
