BREAKING NEWS: Tonight’s CMLL Arena Mexico Show Cancelled Due to Protest/Blockade

Written By Alfredo Esparza

It appears that tonight’s CMLL show at Arena Mexico has been cancelled due to the “Yo Soy 132” protest and blockade near the venue. The protest is occurring on the streets nearby the Televisa building. Arena Mexico is behind that building.

La funciòn de este viernes 27 de julio, serà cancelada para seguridad de toda nuestra aficiòn.Por su comprensiòn.Gracias

This would be the first cancellation of a show at Arena Mexico since 2009 when a few shows were cancelled due to the H1N1 pandemic. There were shows cancelled for a few weeks in May of that year.

Last year, CMLL experienced its own blockade/protest when Tony Rivera and a group of protesters blocked the entry to Arena Mexico with a bus prior to the show headlined by the Averno vs. La Mascara mask match on June 17th. The difference was that with that protest it was a CMLL and Tony Rivera situation were they resolved it that same day. This protest has nothing to do with CMLL, but with the Mexican government, so its out of their hands.

We’ll have more should the situation change or should it last beyond today.
