2011 LuchaWorld 100 Countdown: #7. Volador Jr.

7. Volador Jr. – (3) – (5’7″, 170 lbs, 14 yr. pro): One of the more athletically gifted luchadores in Mexico. Had a bit of an interesting 2011 were it seemed he was phased out some by the promotion. There were rumors that he was one of the CMLL wrestlers who had a try out with WWE in the past couple of years and it seemed like the promotion was a bit lukewarm in pushing him. Had a very respectable first half of 2011 were he continued to have strong performances, but wasn’t really doing anywhere near as much as one would expect. Most of his highlights were that he would wear some great outfits like that of Venom and as the year progressed he dressed like Darth Maul, Green Lantern and even wore KISS gear. Then around late August when Hector Garza turned tecnico, Volador Jr. found his place as part of Los Invasores and really brought new life to that faction as he fit their style better than Garza did. On September 18th, Volador Jr. was unsuccessful in a match for the NWA World Historic Welterweight Title against La Sombra. Two days later, he teamed with Psicosis II and Olimpico to win the Mexican National Trios Titles from Angel de Oro, Rush and Diamante. He followed that up by winning the first stage of the Leyenda de Plata which was a torneo cibernetico with the winner then heading to the finals to face off against Jushin “Thunder” Liger. That was then followed by Volador Jr. winning the Lucha Libre Azteca championship in Nuevo Leon on September 25th. Volador Jr. then won the Leyenda de Plata trophy on October 7th by beating Liger. Volador Jr., Olimpico and Psicosis II began feuding with Los Reyes de la Atlantida (Atlantis, Guerrero Maya Jr., & Delta). They lost the Mexican National Trios titles to Los Reyes de la Atlantida on December 16th. By late 2011, Volador Jr. had firmly reestablished himself as a very popular rudo.
