2011 LuchaWorld 100 Countdown: #17. Ultimo Guerrero

17. Ultimo Guerrero – (13) – (5’8″, 210 lbs, 21 yr. pro): Held both the CMLL World Heavyweight and CMLL World Tag Team Titles in 2011. Ultimo Guerrero and Dragon Rojo Jr. held the tag titles for all of 2011. Had successful World heavyweight title defenses against La Sombra, Mr. Niebla, Hirooki Goto and Rush. He lost the title to Hector Garza on August 12th at Arena Mexico. He was involved in the Forjando Un Idolo tournament as a mentor to the Bravo Group. He initially didn’t like that Rey Escorpion would use rudo tactics to win his matches, but eventually they got along. During the 2nd stage of the tournament were each mentor teamed with his top two students (Angel de Oro and Rey Escorpion), he became upset with Guerreros del Atlantida teammate, Atlantis, who had replaced Shocker as mentor to the Charly Group (teaming with tecnicos Guerrero Maya Jr. and Delta). This led to the eventual break-up of Los Guerreros del Atlantida with Ultimo Guerrero and Dragon Rojo Jr. adding Rey Escorpion to replace Atlantis. Spent the second half of 2011 feuding with Atlantis. He also had a brief feud with Jushin “Thunder” Liger. Ultimo Guerrero is part of the CMLL booking committee so he has some influence in the promotion.
