18. La Mascara (32) – (5’9″, 187 lbs, 12 yr. pro): 2nd-generation wrestler finally reached the next level of stardom in CMLL. Part of the legendary Alvarado (Los Brazos) family. His family connection probably helped as in most wrestling promotions being a second-generation wrestler opens more doors and that’s helped him in CMLL. Had a disappointing trip to Japan for the joing New Japan/CMLL Fantasticmania shows. Held the Mexican National Light Heavyweight Title throughout 2011 with successful defenses over Rey Bucanero, Ultimo Guerrero and Rey Bucanero. Spent much of 2011 feuding with Los Hijos del Averno with his trios partners La Sombra and Mascara Dorada. The trios feud spawned a singles rivalry during the summer between La Mascara and Averno. Amid rumors of Averno possibly departing CMLL to join WWE, CMLL (and Averno) decided to have these two battle in a mask match. La Mascara won the mask of Averno on June 17th at Arena Mexico. Their feud continued and a few weeks later La Mascara, La Sombra and Mascara Dorada lost the CMLL World Trios Titles to Los Hijos del Averno. La Mascara beat Averno for the NWA World Historic Middleweight Championship on November 22nd.
