2011 LuchaWorld 100 Countdown: #32. El Hijo Del Texano

32. El Hijo Del Texano – (41) – (6’1″, 220 lbs, 13 yr. pro): Spent most of 2011 in CMLL teaming with long-time partner El Terrible. They had a feud with Maximo and Super Porky, which led to a hair match on March 18th that El Hijo del Texano & El Terrible won. Formed a trio with El Terrible and Rey Bucanero called Fuerza TRT. They worked high on the card, but they didn’t have a specific feud following their feud with Super Porky & Maximo. He helped Rey Bucanero in his feud with Felino and La Peste Negra in trios matches and he was thrown into the cage main event at the September Anniversary show. Challenged Jushin “Thunder” Liger for the CMLL World Middleweight title on October 24th at Arena Puebla. Right after Hector Garza left CMLL in early November and the CMLL World Heavyweight title situation appeared to be in limbo, everyone assumed the ideal guy to take Garza’s spot would eventually be either Ultimo Guerrero, Rush or El Hijo del Texano. A few weeks later, rumors surfaced that El Hijo Del Texano was also leaving CMLL. He appeared at CMLL’s annual bodybuilding competition and then wrestled on the November 22nd Arena Mexico show. That night, he announced he left CMLL and was now independent and appeared in photos with Los Perros Del Mal. Everyone assumed he would eventually go to AAA. Sure enough, El Hijo del Texano along with ex-CMLL wrestler Toscano and never-been in CMLL wrestler Máscara Año 2000, Jr. debuted at the December 16th Guerra de Titanes show as a group now called “El Consejo” (a spoof on CMLL) who were out to prove they were better than AAA.
