AAA TV 4/30/08 in Aguascalientes:
The recap video of the 4/27 show was beautifully produced.
Billy Boy/El Ángel/Gato Everady vs. Ángel Mortal/Gran Apache/Mr. Cóndor: Very toned down opener. I would wager a guess that they were told to keep it simple as two matches with flying and big spots were due up next. Lots of Billy Boy/Apache hatred although they kept it clean and just tried to one-up each other inside the ring. Billy hit a simple pescado and Angel took to the air with a plancha. Gato pinned Apache after Billy crotched him when he went for his somersault senton bomb off the top. Score one for Billy Boy!
Alan Stone/Chris Stone/Super Calo vs. Extreme Tiger/Halloween/TJ Xtreme: Pretty fun match overall but lots of wacky moments. The wackiest being when Chris Stone showed he can do the Jack Evans spot where he jumps off the top onto his opponent being held up by his partner and then does a backflip… except he never thought about laying an opponent down for his moonsault. It was the weirdest thing. The crowd actually went silent wondering what the fuck happened. Poor drugs have done a number on Chris.:( Now if he had landed on his feet it have been a way cool spot. The next wacky moment was Halloween holding Calo in the air for a power bomb and Tiger coming off with a silla driving Calo’s head into the mat at an awkward angle but it didn’t even phase Calo. Drugs have ruined the entire Stone family outside of Alan it seems. Halloween got slid to the floor really hard and then slammed Alan’s face into the ground when he tried a pescado. That was an AWESOME spot! TJ guys got DQ’ed for refusing to stop beating on Alan after throwing Chris over the top onto Calo.
Crazy Boy/Juventud Guerrera vs. Jack Evans/Teddy Hart: Teddy ruined this match by being… Teddy. The camera kept having to cut away b/c he was giving the crowd the finger or grabbing his crotch so obviously someone told him to stop acting like a tecnico as he did on past tapings and as usual Teddy took it way too far. He even kept fighting with fans in the front row which works on a show of 50-200 people but when you are in a building with thousands of fans you shouldn’t just be messing with 2 idiots in the front row. Match itself was beyond sloppy. Juventud and Teddy completely lost their sense of direction during their opening exchange. Jack was great as usual but was just an object to be thrown around by Crazzy Boy. Finish seemed completely messed up as Jack wanted Juventud in position for the 630 but Teddy wasn’t paying attention. Finally they set it up and Jack got two knees to the back. Crazzy used a suplex turned into a DDT off the apron on Teddy and Juventud’s 9-1-1 Juvy Driver pinned Jack. Post-match had Joe Lider come out and if you’ve ever wondered why he never talks – you found out here.:) This is why he only does those 5 second screaming promos… he has a girl’s voice. Really. Anyways… he walked into a 2-on-1 which was just a GENIUS move but La Familia saved him and then asked him if he was joining them. Instead he introduced Nicho El Millonario who walked out to… no reaction… at all. That was the saddest thing ever. Or maybe it was just a really smart crowd who knew not to get excited b/c he’d fuck up soon enough and leave the promotion only to return at Verano De Escandalo for a week or two. Nicho and Lider beat up La Familia (I’d make fun of the fact La Familia had the odds and still got destroyed but TJ Xtreme doesn’t really count as a person) including Tiger being suplexed off the apron in a dangerous looking spot and Halloween being hiptossed through a table covered in lightbulbs. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWZZZZZZZZZZZ…
Black Abyss vs. Super Porky: I guess this was the taping where Abismo no-showed? This was short and painless. Black Abyss had the advantage due to Niebla interfereing a lot. Finally Alan Stone evened things up with a bullet tope as Porky did his plancha off the apron. Porky sat on Abyss and then tried to splash both rudos but only got Niebla. Abyss then moved from a Porky sitdown splash and hit a frog splash for the CLEAN WIN! They kept Black Abyss really strong here.
Escoria/Mesias/Ozz vs. Electro Shock/Head Hunter I/Konnan: This seemed like an exact copy of the match they did in Toluca except with Head Hunter around instead of Kenzo. It was almost an exactly clone right down to the same double dives by Escoria/Ozz at the end. Vampiro ended up running out to attack Mesias but they were kept apart. Konnan wanted to get at both guys as well. Oh god I hope that doesn’t end up being one of the match at Verano…
Zorro vs. Cibernetico: Zorro did a marvelous job carrying Cibernetico early on. They lost me in the middle with the long sleeperhold spot. That spot NEVER EXISTED IN MEXICO until certain people came down and now it seems like every Ciber singles match has the spot in it. Here’s a thought… don’t do that spot and shorten the match by 4 minutes! WOW! WHAT A CONCEPT! I’ll even toss out a bonus idea for fun – add that 4 minutes to an undercard match! WHOA! I know I’ve lost the AAA bookers and agents already. Anyways – the best AAA main events are the ones that got 5-10 minutes and are just all action or just get straight to the screwjob. Even Ciber’s biggest fans don’t want to see him attempt to wrestle for 15 minutes. Kenzo interfered and got rewarded by eating a Charly Manson bullet tope. Ciber used the choke slam on Zorro but it wasn’t enough and Zorro became the #1 contender for Ciber’s belt.
Not a terrible show but not the strongest follow-up to the hot 4/27 show.
