2011 LuchaWorld 100 Countdown: #35. Mephisto
35. Mephisto – (35) – (5’9″, 198 lbs, 23 yr. pro): CMLL rudo is part of Los Hijos de Averno with Averno and Ephesto. Lost the NWA World Historic Welterweight title on March 13th at Arena Mexico to La Sombra. Spent most of the year feuding with La Generacion Dorada (La Sombra, Mascara Dorada & La Mascara) in singles and trios matches. This led to several CMLL World Trios Title match-ups and Mephisto along with Averno and Ephesto would finally win the titles on July 15th at Arena Mexico. Mephisto challenged Mascara Dorada for the CMLL World Welterweight title three times. He was unsuccessful in those matches as well as in a challenge late in the year for the NWA World Historic Middleweight title held at that time by La Mascara. Very solid in trios matches and his rudo style suits the high-flying style used by many of CMLL tecnicos. He’s also very good in trios matches.
