VIDEO & RECAP: Llaves y Candados 1/1/12 (12/27/11)

Arena Coliseo Monterrey 12/27/11:

Intocable, Ninja Jr., Niurka, Simbolo vs Estrellita, Hijo del Ninja, Konnan Big, The Monster

I figured now that I finished up the luchaworld 100 that I’ll go ahead and recap some lucha shows. There’s a lot and I’m sure I could stick to just going with AAA or CMLL, but there’s a lot of other stuff that gets overlooked for a variety of reasons (lack of time, bad wrestling, not on youtube, etc.). I thought I would start with whatever has aired this year. Starting with a wrestling match featuring a celebrity in it.

Niurka is an actress in Mexico that’s probably made a bigger name for herself being in the gossip pages and being crazy. Sounds perfect for the wrestling business! Intocable looks like he just stepped out of that crappy movie Battlefield Earth. Arena Coliseo de Monterrey was far more packed (putting that mildly since it looks like its less than half full) to watch this than most anything else that goes on there. The announcing was a mix of bad with the gimmicky guys coming in and talking and then there was one announcer who was shocked that past the 5-minute mark, Konnan Big hadn’t lost his breath yet. LOL! Match was mostly just a bad brawl for the first 10 minutes with Niurka at times grabbing her crotch. They used a garbage can and had Hijo de Ninja in there for a bit. There was one announcer who chimed in saying this is wrestling, not dancing, which made me laugh since the match had people who would probably be better described as dancers than wrestlers by some fans.

At about the 11-minute mark, they went to doing just a lucha match which actually wasn’t too bad. Konnan Big even used the flying headscissors against Simbolo. Niurka and Estrellita got into the match and surprisingly Niurka wasn’t half bad in the ring. For her first pro wrestling match she was better than most of the Divas. She was wrestling Estrellita. It wasn’t like she was in with one of the Apache sisters or Marcela or Amapola. She then proceeds to kill my mild praise of her work by grabbing her crotch in a pretty awkward fashion. Intocable is still Intocable and that’s not good. They do a spot were Intocable bumps Estrellita to the outside by hitting her booty with his crotch. If you don’t think that was bad, well as Estrellita is walking on the outside holding her rear-end, she bumps into a little kid. There are kids watching this. We’re gonna get a new generation of lucha fans who think this is great. oh boy…

They do the big dive spot with Hijo de Ninja hitting a tope suicida to the outside onto Simbolo. Followed by Ninja Jr. hitting his version of la dormilona. Konnan Big and Intocable both hit dives and then Niurka hits a top rope plancha as well. Match ends with Konnan Big holding onto Intocable and Niurka coming in the ring and fouling Konnan Big while both refs were distracted with what was going on outside. Intocable quickly pins Konnan Big for the win.

WINNERS: Intocable, Ninja Jr., Niurka, Simbolo

Post-match Roberto Figueroa interviews Niurka and she’s actually pretty interesting in that she points out that she needs to work on her movement in the ring and how to be a little quicker reacting to spots. She kept calling some of the guys by the names they’re known as outside of wrestling.

Match was pretty awful for about the first 10 minutes. The rest of it was passable.

How thecubsfan is allowed to upload some of the Llaves y Candados matches to youtube without violating something in the agreement is beyond me!
