CMLL GdR 2/23/08 & FSE 2/17/08

CMLL GdR 2/23/08:

Bam Bam/Pequeno Olimpico/Ultimo Dragoncito vs Pequeno Black Warrior/Pequeno Violencia/Pierrothito: The mini’s division is DEEP! Great match with a ton of awesome spots. Dragoncito launched himself into the third row along with Pierrothito with his usual high-speed flip plancha right after Bam Bam had hit a great double-jump tornillo plancha! Bam Bam had a great second fall exchange ending with a diving frankensteiner off the second rope in the ring to the outside. Pequeno Olimpico did a rare somersault off the top rope with great impact on the landing! Rudos recovered to win the fall though. In the third fall Pequeno Warrior showed off his awesome slingshot legdrop to the floor as Pierrothito had Dragoncito suspended in mid-air! KILLER SPOT! Before he could celebrate he was crushed by ANOTHER Dragoncito high-speed flip plancha! Pequeno Olimpico ended the madness with a great setup into his bodyscissors small package. This was AWESOME and if you can believe it – only 4 days later they had a rematch on Tuesday for Cadena Tres which I remember being even better than this was!

Marco Corleone/Negro Casas/… Le-OH-NO vs Atlantis/Sangre Azteca/Ultimo Guerrero: I guess this was the swan song for Leono who will never be booked this high again. GOOD RIDDANCE! Ironically enough he wasn’t as horrible as usual here but I refuse to forgive him for the previous 2 and a half years. Only went two falls but the finish was great as Corleone went for his frankensteiner off the top rope after a big leap but Ultimo low blowed him.

Really good show mostly due to the opener of course.

CMLL FSE 2/17/08:

Leono/Mictlan/Super Nova vs Ohara/Okumura/Virus: Average match. Nova had to carry the work as you can tell by his partners and since Nova isn’t a machine the rudos were mostly in control since the tecnicos can’t blow spots if they are just selling… although Leono sure tries. Is Ohara ever going to leave Mexico? He isn’t offensive or anything but he’s taking a spot that could be used better by say… Hooligan or Super Comando. Rudos go over.

La Mascara/Sagrado/Ultimo Dragon vs Efesto/Olimpico/Sangre Azteca: THE WORST MATCH IN THE HISTORY OF FSE. I swear my initial thought after watching this was to rip it and make a youtube video with that circus music in the background playing as they botch every single thing they try. Really, EVERYONE here should be ashamed of themselves as they are not novatos by any stretch of the imagination and should have been able to cover even when one or two spots went wrong early on. The highlight (for me at least) was during the botched tecnico comeback… yes… it had already been botched and THEN this happened… Sangre and Efesto ran towards La Mascara for a double clothesline but he ducked and…

And in the time it took you all to scroll down to here is exactly how long everyone just stood in the ring not moving a muscle. One of the most embarassing things I have ever seen in Mexico and I’ve seen COUNTLESS rookie matches with kids who couldn’t have had more than 1 or 2 training sessions. I cannot believe almost 50 years of experience on the rudo side couldn’t figure out how to cover for someone not being in position. When in doubt – JUST PUNCH SOMEONE IN THE FACE! YOU’RE OPPONENTS! To make it worse after unfreezing they just simply walked around the ring and stood where they thought they needed to be before Sagrado finally did a springboard dropkick. The commision should have kicked everyone out of the ring like they did to the wrestlers in the semi-main of the 1/12 Arena Coliseo show. Unfortunately they ended the fall and we still had to deal with the third fall where Ultimo got to get his asai moonsault in. Good for you Mr. Asai. Tecnicos took the pathetic match.

Had a match like that been on AAA TV you would have never heard the end of it from the so called “smarts” about how awful AAA wrestlers are. I demand the same for this crew of CMLL workers!
