VIDEO & RECAP: Top 2 Matches from AULL 1/14/12 Show

Several years ago there was a videotape released by Michinoku Pro that had one of those wacky titles that I’m sure we probably butchered in translation called “The Great Sasuke Travels The Lucha Kingdom”. I guess it was appropriately titled given it was a video of The Great Sasuke wrestling in Mexico and traveling the country. Its safe to say that The Great Sasuke’s travels pale in comparison to Black Terry Jr’s since he attends a ton of lucha shows and he provides us fans outside of Mexico with a glimpse of that world be it through his photos or through his videos (IN HIGH DEFINITION!).

4. Daga/Eterno/Flamita defeated Sadico/Las Traumas I y II with fans throwing money in the ring afterwards in appreciation.

Real fun match. Makes me want to watch a Daga vs. Trauma I singles match-up. Lots of great mat work. Daga and Trauma I threw a few slaps at each other throughout the match, which was great. I still dig Trauma II’s hair. Its like he’s channeling Tim Tall Tree. Flamita is rather underrated when it comes to the fun luchadores to watch club. First fall had a weird finish with Flamita getting the pin on Sadico, but then both Traumas came in and submitted Flamita’s partners (Eterno & Daga). Flamita seemed a little confused, but his team lost that fall. They won the second fall. Third fall had both Daga and Flamita hitting dives to the outside. Trauma II then got the submission win on Eterno. Definitely a match you should watch.

5. Atlantis/Blue Panther/Solar I battled Felino/Negro Navarro/Ultimo Guerrero to a double pinfall when Atlantis & UG both had their shoulders down on a pinfall in a damn good match. There were challenges of a rematch afterwards.

This was one helluva match dubbed a “Battle Of Los Maestros”. Thought there was gonna be little interaction between the CMLL guys and the independents (Solar I & Navarro), but there is late in the match. Favorite part is when Atlantis and Ultimo Guerrero get into the ring, I can hear Black Terry Jr. or someone say “esta vez si van a luchar” (this time they will wrestle). LOL! A lot of nice mat work in the match. They ended with a double pinfall and since each side had two guys getting pinned ended it in a draw. They probably could have just gone a few more minutes to let Atlantis and Ultimo Guerrero conclude the match, but they obviously wanted a rematch.
